The vision and change plan are created early in the change process and they stimulate a lot of questions for people. As a manager, your job is to help people through these first steps by communicating answers (in group meetings and one-on-ones) to their specific questions about the vision and upcoming change plans. Use the following topics and common questions to organize your responses:
- Create awareness (the business case for change) Why is the current state no longer viable? Why must the change happen now? What are the risks of not changing? What will this involve?
- Share the vision – What will the future look like? How will it be superior to the present? Specifically, what will be different? What will it mean for people, organization, technology, etc.?
- Describe the plan – What will we do first? Who will be involved and how? How long will this take? What does the bigger picture look like?
