Form Temporary Teams

Meaningful engagement is your most valuable change management tool.  Forming teams around important analytical, developmental, and implementation activities related to your change target will deepen and broaden understanding of the project and contribute to solution quality and speed of implementation.

During this phase of the effort, you will form many temporary teams for a variety of implementation-related purposes. These teams will have a specifically assigned task and deliverables and exist for a defined period of time.  Under these conditions, it is very important that these are well formed and well launched so they may become effective as quickly as possible.

Research and experience with temporary teams in the last 20+ years has shown that there are several prerequisites for launching effective temporary teams.

  • The composition of the team is carefully considered
  • The charter for the team (purpose, goals, roles, authority, parameters, and authority) is clearly expressed
  • Teams have the support and resources necessary to do what is asked of them
  • Team members are equipped with team and interpersonal skills to function effectively
